1st Best Thing That Happened This Week: Aunt Mary Ann's Surprise Party

Delicious food. :) Aunt Mary Ann turned 60 this week and last Saturday we had a surprise party for her. Mike and Heather organized it and it was at their house. They finished their basement for the occasion and set tables and chairs up down there as well as most of the food. Our family stood upstairs in the kitchen when Aunt Mary Ann came in the door. As she turned around the fridge she looked up and saw all of us and gasped. Her face was priceless. Then Heather said, "Well let's go down stairs. That's where all the food is." So we did. When Aunt Mary Ann got to the bottom and saw even more people, she was shocked and started crying. One of her best friends from nursing school flew in from Maine for the special day.

Little Lainey and I. She's so cute! She loves
girly things now. Her favorite color is pink. She's still crazy, though. She wears her necklace on her head like a head band. And she can't stay clean for very long. Mike and Heather put down soft, new carpet on the stairs and floor, and after many of the guests left, Lainey ripped off her dress and threw it on the church pew and started rubbing her belly on the carpet! It was hilarious. I love her curly hair, especially after she wakes up from a nap, her
mischievous eyes, and her dimple. :)

All of the younger/little cousins, minus Elliott. Me, Lainey, Josh, Evan, and Dane.

Aunt Mary Ann, Uncle Ed, and Elliott. Mike made a video for Aunt Mary Ann with pictures all through her life, and popular music from her day. Elliott kept dancing to the music and Aunt Mary Ann's friends were singing to it. A lot of people were crying. I admit, it was touching.

Dad with his aunts and my great-aunts. Aunt
LaVerne and Aunt Mary Jane.

On Friday night, I went over to help set up while Mom and Dad ran errands. My cousin, Julie, and I set up the lanterns and stars on the ceiling. Josh and Dad blew up the balloons on Saturday. It had such a fun look down there.

Elliott, Dane, Julie, and Josh. Elliott looks really weird here.
lol
Lainey. Her dress was the cutest thing ever! Heather said that she found it at Family Dollar.

Julie got balloons and those blowing things for the kids to be entertained with. They loved them.

The dessert table. Mom made all of those cupcakes. The two flavors were chocolate with raspberry jam,
ganache, and a raspberry on top and vanilla with a cream cheese frosting and either coconut or white sprinkles on top. I helped decorate the chocolate ones so I'm partial to those.

Heather in front of the tower. She looked so pretty.

Here was the mini tower of goodies that I made. On top you will see almond sugar cookies with apricot jam filling and on bottom citrus bars that didn't turn out at all. They tasted delicious but they didn't bake all the way through and therefore were quite mushy. Julie made me put them out much to my chagrin. At least no one knew who made them. :)
Ok, even after two long posts that I started at 3:30 and it's now 8:30, my mom is making me write the day book part of this. So here it goes....
Outside my window:
It's night time. And rainy. But at least it's a warm rain. There are raindrops clinging to the glass window and the light from inside makes them glow.
I am wearing: Black lounge pants, and the same grey graphic shirt I wore riding. Nothing too cool. My hair is pulled back in a side pony and my growing bangs are bobby pinned up.
I am grateful that: The rapture didn't happen today like someone predicted. I know it will be great when Christ comes back, but I just got a horse. And I want to live on earth a little longer. Even though I know Heaven will be so much better.
In the garden: The
daffodils are blooming as well as the tulips, grape hyacinths, and cherry blossoms. It looks very beautiful and springy out there.
